About Getrude Mungai: Your Trusted Lifestyle Designer on Sex and Relationships

Welcome! I’m Getrude Mungai, a dedicated Lifestyle Designer focusing on sex and relationships, a proud wife, mother, author, blogger, TV and radio host, and motivational speaker. This year, I’m celebrating 26 years of marital bliss with my husband, Peter, with whom I’ve shared a beautiful relationship for 30 years. Together, we are blessed with two wonderful sons, Mark and Albert.

A Rich Heritage and Unique Perspective

Born and raised in the culturally rich Rabai community on the Kenyan coast, I had the privilege of being nurtured in a society that prepares girls from puberty for the realities of sex and intimacy in marriage. My foundational knowledge is deeply rooted in African traditional culture, enriched by insights from various tribes and communities across East Africa and beyond.

My passion for learning has taken me around the world, where I’ve studied the art of Kama Sutra from India and the intimate secrets of the Middle East from a Harlem trainer. I constantly stay updated with the latest developments in the fields of sex and intimacy, blending Western and Eastern knowledge with practical experiences from my own marriage to offer a customized, tailor-made approach for our modern African society.

Corporate Motivational Talks

Over the years, I have had the honor of guiding thousands of women and men both locally and internationally. My expertise has been sought by churches, multinational corporations, banks, and various institutions, where I’ve delivered impactful talks on intimacy, relationships, and personal growth.

Published Work

My work has been featured in several prominent publications. I’ve contributed articles on sex, romance, and relationships to the Sunday Standard newspaper’s EVE weekly magazine under my column “Between the Sheets.” I also wrote for the Nairobi Star newspaper for over a year with a column titled “Sex Auntie.” Additionally, I serve as a guest writer for the website LoveMatters.co.ke, where I respond to readers’ questions and share my insights.

I have been featured in various Kenyan magazines such as Eve, True Love, Salon, Adam, Drum, and Parents, as well as newspapers like Nation, Taifa Leo, and Standard.

Radio and TV Appearances

I have co-hosted a morning drive show on Kiss FM for a month and appeared on several programs including Citizen TV’s breakfast show, KBC TV, NTV, and KTN TV stations. The BBC World Radio Service also did a profile on me and highlighted my work on their website.

From 2013 to 2015, I hosted a radio show ‘Bahari ya Mapenzi’ (Ocean of Love), an adult-only program addressing issues related to sex and intimacy. I also co-hosted a breakfast show on 1 FM 97.5 every Monday and Wednesday. In 2013, I hosted one of Kenya’s hottest shows, ‘Connect,’ on K24 TV, where I advised couples on relationships, sex, and intimacy. One of the episodes from this show has garnered over 2 million views on YouTube.

In August 2016, I shot a TV show in Swahili called ‘Wasia na Getrude Mungai’ on DSTV and GOTV’s Maisha Magic East channel. In 2017, I returned to K24 TV to continue the program, now named ‘Konnect with Getrude Mungai,’ which aired every Thursday and Friday at 10 pm.

Since 2023, I have been a relationship expert on the hottest reality show in Kenya, ‘Hello Mr. Right,’ where young people come to look for love and get connected to potential mates.

The Glamour Magazine – UK, featured my work in 2008 and voted me as one of the women making a positive change in the world. In 2012, a German TV station featured my work and the impact I’m having on families in East Africa. I was also privileged to be invited to do seminars in Uganda, Tanzania, and South Africa, where I appeared on TV and radio stations as well as newspapers and magazines in these countries. I continue to have ongoing interviews with Kaya FM of Johannesburg, South Africa.

Global Impact and Recognition

My work extends beyond Kenya’s borders. I’ve had the privilege of conducting seminars in Uganda, Tanzania, and South Africa, where I’ve appeared on TV and radio stations, as well as in newspapers and magazines. I have ongoing interviews with Kaya FM of Johannesburg, South Africa.

Charity and Community Work

I strongly believe in giving back to society and mentoring the next generation. I volunteer with the Kenya Cancer Association, where I served as Treasurer in 2013.

I’m also the founder of the Fadhili Mschana Kenya initiative, which supports teen mothers by providing them with the skills and support they need to build better futures for themselves and their children. These young women face significant challenges, but together, we can offer them the tools they need to overcome adversity and thrive. See how you can support Fadhill Mschana.
